We want to thank everyone who made our 1st Annual Jordan’s Hope for Recovery Rally & Fun Run/Walk a success.
First, we want to thank our many volunteers. Without you this event and Jordan’s Hope could not be the success that it is. Our volunteers are the backbone of our organization from the board to the people who speak up about the disease of drug and alcohol dependence. We thank each one of you!
We thank our event sponsors who support our mission and help us bring awareness and hope to our community. Klean Treatment Centers, Columbia Memorial Hospital, Free by the Sea Treatment Center, North Coast Recovery, and Astoria Dairy Queen.
To those who donated their time and products, the Astoria Lion’s Club, Astoria Coffee Roasters, Van Dusen Beverages, City Lumber Company, Pacific Coast Medical Supply, Redhare and Bogh Electric, we thank you!
We have some special hard-working people who were with us from the beginning as we planned our event and made it fun and successful. Natasha Thompson, Megan Kindred, and Janelle Johnson who were our fun run/walk committee, Linda Ho who mentored our students and many other tasks, and Jeremy Johnson who not only provided music but helped with the heavy lifting.
To those people who took on specific tasks and made them a success, Sienna and Logan who took charge of our Swag booth, Tamee and Ken who taught everyone to make monkey fists, Laila Maddy and Georgia who handed out water and anything else we needed them to do, Jayme, Elisha and Lottie who went to work doing everything they could, Maria McGregor who helped set up our venue, the Astoria Alano Club and North Coast Prevention Works for brining awareness to their cause, Julia, Connie, Steve, Louie, Chris, Charlie, Sarah and Rachel who shared their experience strength and hope. Thank you!
A special thank you to our three high school students Raija, Hannah and Nick who along with Mr. Foss and Linda Ho put together a wonderful space for the children who participated and our memory board.
Our musicians including the Brownsmead Flats, Nate Hawkins and the Astoria High School Band with instructor Jeremy Johnson who provided great music. Our MC Wayne Doyle for keeping our run/walk fun and exciting. Thank you!
We also had a visit from Smokey the Bear (Forestry Dept.), Elroy the Elk (Elks Club) and McGruff the crime fighting dog (Astoria Police Department) who were a treat for both young and old participants.
Once again, we thank everyone who participated, donated and helped with our event.
If everyone does something then together we will make a difference!
